Maitreyee Pahari proudly promotes traditional arts of the rural areas and backward region of Bihar, Bengal, and Orissa. She was born in Midnapur, West Bengal, and has a close connection with these places. She was fascinated and attracted to the folk arts and performing arts in traditional forms in dance and music. She learned classical form Kathak from Delhi and graduated in Manipuri dance. She starts working to propagate and promote the traditional forms of art. She received the Charles Wallace Fellowship Award in 2003 for her tremendous choreographies, workshops, and performances.
